Amazon launches Alexa-powered TVs in October

Amazon may be shipping Amazon branded televisions as early as October, after smart displays, smart speakers and the Fire TV stick.

Alexa will power the smart TVs, which will be available in screen sizes from 55 to 75 inches. They are reportedly manufactured by third party companies and released in the US.

Amazon is no stranger to the television industry. In India, the e-commerce company sells AmazonBasics-branded televisions. It has also partnered with BestBuy to sell Amazon Fire TV-enabled Toshiba and Insignia TVs. Most importantly, Amazon sells the Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube, which will turn your old TV into a smart one.

Amazon has already developed displays and Fire TV devices, so it was only a matter of time before it launched its own Alexa-enabled TV. According to Amazon, the televisions will initially be available in the USA. The company has yet to confirm or deny the reports.

It’s also too early to say whether or not Amazon will sell the televisions in India and other countries. If Amazon launches its televisions in India and aggressively prices them, it will put pressure on Samsung. LG, and other manufacturers.
