Apple got us all excited on SharePlay on iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and macOS Monterey, but the company has just announced that the feature won’t be ready to launch the new versions of its operating systems just yet.
In a statement to How-To Geek, Apple said, “SharePlay has been disabled for use in the developer”. beta 6 versions of iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and tvOS 15 and will be deactivated shortly beta 6 version of macOS Monterey. “
This has been one of Apple’s highly touted features for iOS 15, so the company must face some serious issues in order for it to be ready to delay the feature. The feature enabled people to watch TV shows, movies, music and other forms of entertainment in perfect sync.
The company also said the feature wouldn’t be ready for the final OS release this fall.
“SharePlay will also be deactivated for use in the first versions this fall. SharePlay will be re-enabled for use in future developers beta and will be made available to the public in software updates later this fall, “Apple said in a statement.
However, SharePlay is not dead when Apple approaches developers who create apps with SharePlay: “We are thrilled with the tremendous amount of enthusiasm we’ve seen for SharePlay from the developer community and can’t wait to bring it to users you can experience your apps with your friends and family in a whole new way. “
We’ll have to wait and see when SharePlay comes to Apple devices, but for now we’ll have to be patient.
