Would you like to automatically set the background and lock screen wallpaper to the Microsoft Bing image for the day once a day? It’s easy to do this on Ubuntu via an extension.
For Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 20.10, and all other Linux with Gnome Desktop, the lightweight Gnome Shell Extension “Bing Wallpaper” allows you to set the Microsoft Bing image as the background and lock the screen wallpaper. I can do it.
The extension downloads Bing images and updates the wallpaper once a day. By providing the system tray indicator menu, you can copy the image to the clipboard and change the extension settings.
How to install Bing Wallpaper Extension:
1.) First open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and run the command to install the chrome-gnome-shell package. This adds integration for the Gnome Shell extension for web browsers (if you don’t have one).
sudo apt install chrome-gnome-shell
2.) Next Go to the extension web page, Turn on the toggle icon to install.
Do you see the toggle icon? Follow the link to install the browser extension and refresh the web page.
After installing the extension, the indicator applet will appear in the upper right corner. You can click Update Now or wait for the wallpaper to update automatically.
For Bing locale, download folders, screen resolution, and other settings, see the indicator menu.[設定]Just go to the options.
Uninstall the extension.
To remove the extension, either turn off the toggle icon on the previous link page or use the extension tool (
sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-prefs command).
