Darktable 3.4.1 released with faster thumbnail generation [Ubuntu PPA]

Darktable 3.4.1, an open source RAW photo development tool, has been released today. The PPA has been updated for Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Ubuntu 20.10.

new 3.4.1 The version mainly contains bug fixes and also includes other minor changes such as faster thumbnail generation during imports and minor CSS improvements. And there is updated camera support.

How to install Darktable 3.4.1 on Ubuntu:

TheĀ· OBS The repository maintains Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, and Ubuntu software packages. The repository has not been updated at this time, but you can use Ubuntu PPA instead.

TheĀ· Unofficial PPA Includes new release packages for Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.10, Ubuntu 20.04, and their derivatives.

1. Open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and run the command to add the PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/darktable

Enter the user password for the sudo prompt (without asterisk feedback) and press Enter to continue.

2. If you have an older version installed, use the Software Updater to upgrade.

Upgrade darktable

Or run the command in the terminal to install Darktable.

sudo apt update

sudo apt install darktable

Uninstall:

To remove the PPA, launch Software & Updates, go to Other Software and remove the relevant line.

Or run the command in the terminal.

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/darktable

Use Ubuntu software to remove the RAW image editor.
