Here’s how to access the secret hardware diagnostic menu on your Samsung phone

If you’ve just bought a Samsung smartphone or are getting your old model ready for sale, you want to know if everything is working as it should. Samsung phones these days are jam-packed with features and sensors, so it’s not easy to keep track of what’s going right and what’s not.

This is where Samsung’s hidden diagnostics menu comes in. This secret feature, hidden in models released since 2016, requires you to enter a specific code to unlock access to an app that allows you to run a wide variety of diagnostics on your phone’s hardware. Read on to find out the secret!

Access to the hidden Samsung diagnostics menu

Accessing the diagnostics menu is a simple process and should be available to anyone with a reasonably modern Samsung phone. There were reports that cellular carriers like Verizon and Sprint blocked diagnostics a few years ago. If you have one of their plans and you can’t access it, that’s probably the problem. Fortunately, however, users suggest that Sprint has since relaxed the blocking of code-based functionality in newer models.

We tested it ourselves on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Since the Fold 3 has some unique features to test, keep in mind that what you see in the screenshots below may not exactly match what you see on your phone.
