How to add an animated GIF in a. a Word Document

Word you can insert animated GIFs saved on your computer’s hard drive. The process of inserting a GIF into a Word Document is no different than pasting a picture or any other object. Unfortunately, this only works at Microsoft Word for Windows 10. If you are a Mac user you can still insert a GIF, but it won’t be animated.

Open first Word and place the cursor where you want the GIF to appear on the document. In the Illustrations group on the Insert tab, click Pictures. Select “This Device” from the drop-down menu.

File Explorer will open. Find the GIF you want to insert and select it. Click on “Insert”.

The GIF will appear in your Microsoft Word document. A pause icon will appear in the lower left corner of the image. When you click on it, the animation will pause.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the GIF and then select “Edit alternative text” in the context menu.

The Alternative Text area appears to the right of the window. Enter the alternative text you want in the text box.

Now, you haven’t just pasted a GIF in your Microsoft Word Document, but you also made it available to everyone.
