The lock screen background option has been removed from the Ubuntu 20.04 Gnome desktop settings. And now it uses blurry desktop wallpaper as lock screen background.
Still want to change lock screen wallpaper? The Gnome shell extension can do the job.
1.) Press Ctrl + Alt + T on your keyboard to open a terminal. Once open, run the command and confirm
gir1.2-clutter-1.0 The library is installed:
sudo apt install gir1.2-clutter-1.0
2.) Then in your web browser extensions.gnome.org/extension/1476/unlock-dialog-background/.
Click the toggle and confirm in the next popup to install the extension.
Don’t see the toggle? Update the web page by performing the following steps:
- Click the link text “Click here to install the browser extension” and follow the popup to install the browser extension.
- Then open a terminal with Ctrl + Alt + T and run the command.
sudo apt install chrome-gnome-shell
3.) Launch the Extensions utility or Gnome Tweaks> Extensions (installed via Ubuntu software), go to the extension settings page and finally set the background image for the lock screen.
