How to change the spell check language to Outlook On-line

Are you sending an email in a second language but not sure if you spelled a word correctly? Microsoft Outlook Online provides a quick and easy way to change the language of the spell checker to help you.

Outlook Online recognizes the default language of your browser, which in turn normally adopts your default language from your computer’s operating system. Happily, Outlook Online you can select and switch to a second language from a list of supported languages. When you’ve finished sending email in that language, you can reset your spell checker back to the original language.

To change the spell checker, first sign in to the Outlook Online website . From there, click the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen, then select “Show All.” Outlook Settings.”

In the settings window that opens, click Email> Compose & Reply.

At the bottom of the options, on the right side of the settings, click Microsoft Editor Settings.

In the window that opens, choose the down arrow to the right of the Proofing Language drop-down menu. Select the language that you want to check spelling for, then click OK.


You can now close the settings panel and write your email in the language you have chosen. When you’re ready to go back to the original language, open the Settings menu and change the Proofing Language drop-down menu back.
