Byte is a free open source music player for Linux. It’s basically a small and powerful music player designed for the basic OS, but it can be installed on any Linux OS. It comes with a simple customizable UI with a powerful music library, playlist support, recently added song list and online radio support. You can view the details of the media and sort the playlist. It has a built-in radio station search function to find and save online stations. You can also switch between dark and light themes.
Install Byte Music Player on Ubuntu
Byte Music Player can only be used as a flat pack for Ubuntu or must be built from source. Before installing the flatpak app, you need to download and set up the flatpak and flathub repositories on Ubuntu. The installation process is easy and is a one-time process. Follow the tutorials below to install and set up the Flat Pack and Flat Hub on Ubuntu.

After installing flatpak, reboot the system. Open the terminal app (ctrl + alt + t) on your system. Then type the following Byte Music Player flatpak install command and press Enter.
flatpak install flathub com.github.alainm23.byte
During the installation, you will be asked to confirm the installation of Byte Music Player. Press y to enter. Then check again and install Byte Music Player and all the required applications on your Ubuntu system. Then run this command in the terminal to launch the Byte Music Player.
flatpak run com.github.alainm23.byte
If you don’t like it, you can uninstall Byte using the following command.
sudo flatpak uninstall com.github.alainm23.byte
