Ubuntu has replaced Chromium in the universe repository with a Snap package, so users are looking for a deb package or apt method to install their browser.
The Linux Mint team has been maintaining the chromium deb package for some time. You can install the package on Ubuntu to keep it up to date. It’s stable and reliable, but the installation process isn’t as easy as Ubuntu PPA.
another Ubuntu PPA It currently contains the latest packages for Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 20.10. (Currently 90.0.4430.212). PPA also includes the latest versions of other useful apps such as avidemux, filezilla and youtube-dl. And you can trust it too.
The PPA Chromium package is backported from the Debian Unstable repository. Therefore, it is marked as a “developer build”. If you don’t want to add a Linux Mint repository, PPA can be a good alternative.
1.) Add Ubuntu PPA.
First, open the terminal from the system app launcher. Once open, run the command to add the PPA.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xtradeb/apps
2.) Install Chromium.
Like Linux Mint, the package name has changed from
chromium.. Just run the apt command in the terminal to install.
sudo apt install chromium
--install-suggests If you want to enable minimal shell and WebDriver support, flag it with a command.
Delete the PPA.
To remove Ubuntu PPA[ソフトウェアとアップデート]->[その他のソフトウェア]Open and delete the relevant line.
Or run the command:
sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:xtradeb/apps
