How to install ClipGrab Video Downloader via PPA on Ubuntu 20.04

Want to install ClipGrab YouTube Video Downloader via classic deb package? This is a PPA available on Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 20.10, and Linux Mint 20.

ClipGrab is a free open source download and conversion application for YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and many other video sites.

Thanks to Youtube-DL and the Qt framework, it provides a simple UI with the ability to search for videos via keywords. When you click on a video in the search results, the URL of the video will be automatically entered in the Download tab.

You can also copy and paste the video URL directly from the YouTube web page, select the download format, MPEG4, MP3, etc. and choose the quality.

1.) Open a terminal from the system app launcher. Once open, run the command to add the PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xtradeb/apps

Enter your user password (without asterisk feedback) when prompted and press Enter to continue.

2.) After adding the PPA, execute the command to install the tool.

sudo apt install clipgrab

Also, if you don’t have the latest YouTube-DL package, or if you have an older version, it will be installed from the PPA repository.

Uninstall ClipGrab.

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:xtradeb/apps

To remove the video downloader software, run the following command:

sudo apt remove --auto-remove clipgrab
