Dino is a free, open source and secure Jabber / XMPP chat client for Linux. XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) is an xml-based open communication protocol. Released under the GNU General Public License v3.0. It is based on GTK + and Vala. Supports end-to-end encryption via OMEMO and OpenPGP. You can also disable chat reading and input notifications. It supports private, group, public chat, image and file sharing, and multiple accounts.
Install Dino on Ubuntu
Open the terminal software (ctrl + alt + t) and execute the following command. Enter the Ubuntu user password, if required.
sudo apt update
The Ubuntu software source list is updated. Then run this command to install the Dino chat client.
sudo apt install dino-im
Then open Dino with this command.
Install Dino via deb.
Download the native deb file based on the Ubuntu version directly from the Grab binary package and download folder. Here, the downloaded file name is “dino_0.1.0 ~ git141.20200915.1956f63_amd64.debYou can change the following commands based on the downloaded file name.
sudo dpkg -i dino_0.1.0~git141.20200915.1956f63_amd64.deb
sudo apt install -f
