How to Install Heimer on Ubuntu – Free Mind Map Application

Heimer is free open source mind mapping software for Windows and Linux. This allows you to create simple and easy-to-use mind maps. You can also create diagrams and take notes using this application. Save and load .ALZ files into heimer and export mind maps or diagrams to PNG images. Other useful features include adding node text and edge labels, animations, and adjustable grid options. Released under the GNU GPLv3 license and written in Qt.

Install Heimer Mind Mapping on Ubuntu.

Available as AppImage, Snap, deb packages. You can install using any of the following methods.

Download Hymer

Install Heimer via AppImage.

Download the Heimer Mind Mapping application in .AppImage file format from the link above. At the time of this writing, “Heimer-1.15.1-x86_64.AppImage” and downloads are where I downloaded the files. Based on these, you can change these two values ​​with the following command:

First open the terminal app (ctrl + alt + t) and go to the download path.

cd Downloads

Next, change the file permissions to executable.

sudo chmod +x ~ Heimer-1.15.1-x86_64.AppImage

Enter your Ubuntu user path, if needed. Next, execute the following command to start Heimer Mind Mapping on Ubuntu.

sudo ./Heimer-1.15.1-x86_64.AppImage

Install Heimer via snap.

In a terminal window, execute this Heimer snap installation command.

sudo snap install heimer

that’s all. Enter your ubuntu password if needed. After installation, execute this command to start.

Install Heimer via deb.

Download the Heimer deb file based on your OS from the download link above. Execute the commands one by one.
Here, the downloaded file name is “heimer-1.15.1-Ubuntu-18.04_amd64.deb” of mu ubuntu 18.04, and the location is the “download” folder.

cd Downloads
sudo dpkg -i heimer-1.15.1-Ubuntu-18.04_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f
