How to install KODI on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Installing Kodi on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Step 1. Adding a repository.

First, you can add the PPA to the system, update the local repository index, and install the XBMC package.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/xbmc-nightly
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa

Step 2. System update.

Next, make sure all system packages are up to date by running these following apt-get commands in terminal.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Step 3. Installing Kodi.

Run the following command to install Kodi:

sudo apt-get install kodi

Add the –install-suggests option if you want to install audio codecs and other addons, so the last command would be:

sudo apt-get install --install-suggests kodi

After installation, log out and select log in with session Kodi… Or start the media center with a dash (reboot may be required).
