If you have a Fugu14 Untether compatible device and are interested in using it to unether your Unc0ver jailbreak, then you’re in luck because the recent updates for AltStore, Fugu14, unc0ver have everything linked to make the installation process simpler and easy .
Since many are hesitant to try out the Untether right now, we decided to publish a tutorial that will walk you through the process step by step. Note the following requirements to confirm that you are eligible for the Untether. If so, you can follow the steps in this tutorial.
What you need to know
At the time of this writing, the Fugu14-Untether is only intended for arm64e devices (iPhone XS and newer) with iOS or iPadOS 14.4-14.5.1.
Fugu14 may receive an update in the future to support arm64 devices (iPhone X and older) and may also support older versions of iOS and iPadOS 14, however there is no such ETA for these two things.
It should also be noted that unc0ver with Fugu14 is currently still a semi-untethered jailbreak. It is still considered semi-untethered as restarting the device boots into a jailed state and requires the user to re-jailbreak with the unc0ver app in order to return to a jailbroken state. What Fugu14 achieves in its current coupling with unc0ver is that it signs the unc0ver app permanently, so that you don’t need AltServer to re-sign the app every 7 days. A full-fledged untethered jailbreak could be done at a later date. You can read more about the key details if you are interested.
If you meet the above requirements and have an arm64e device with iOS or iPadOS 14.4-14.5.1, you can download and install AltStore v1.4.8 or higher to sideways the unc0ver jailbreak app (v7.0.1 or higher) download and install the Fugu14-Untether.
Please note that the Fugu14-Untether is still very new and may contain errors. These bugs are continually being fixed as soon as they are discovered, as shown by a recent update for Fugu14. Only proceed if you are comfortable with the risks involved in gambling.
Assuming you are on board with all of the above, here are some steps you can take:
How it goes
1) Go to our basic Unc0ver tutorial and follow steps 1-19 to install AltServer and AltStore if you haven’t already.
After installing the latest version of the unc0ver jailbreak app through AltStore, AltStore will display a pop-up message stating that the jailbreak needs to be deethered. Please note that this popup will not be displayed if your handset is not Fugu14 compatible.
2) You can now choose whether you want to continue with the untether or continue without the untether in order to use unc0ver semi-untethered as always. Tap that Install Untethered Jailbreak Button:
AltStore will now start installing the unc0ver placeholder.
3) When you’re done, tap that Open placeholder Button:
The interface for configuring the Fugu14 subether appears after AltStore has installed the placeholder unc0ver.
4) Tap the blue Set up Fugu14 Button.
The setup wizard runs commands and then prompts you to return to AltStore to continue the installation.
5) Tap that OK Button when the commands are complete:
Next, AltStore will start patching the unc0ver placeholder.
6) When it’s done, tap that Open placeholder Button:
The familiar pitch black Fugu14 surface is now back.
7) Tap the blue Install Untether Button:
Fugu14’s setup wizard runs some additional commands and then prompts the user to restart their device.
8th) Tap that Restart now Button in the pop-up that appears:
After rebooting, open AltStore again and the app should prompt you to continue installing the unc0ver jailbreak.
9) Tap that Install Unc0ver Button:
AltStore installs the unc0ver jailbreak app and then prompts you to finish in the unc0ver app.
10) Tap that Open unc0ver Button:
After the Untether has been installed, you will continue with the steps to officially jailbreak your handset with unc0ver.
11) After the unc0ver jailbreak app loads, tap the blue one Jailbreak Button:
After running the unc0ver jailbreak app, you will be prompted to restart your handset one more time before completing the jailbreak.
12) Tap that OK Button in the pop-up message to proceed:
13) After the restart, start the unc0ver jailbreak app again and tap the blue one Jailbreak Button to proceed with the jailbreak:
Once unc0ver has completed the jailbreak process, you will be prompted to reboot the device one final time.
14) Tap that OK Button to proceed with the final restart:
When your device finishes booting, you will officially be jailbroken thanks to the joint efforts of Fugu14 and unc0ver.
Congratulations! You no longer need to sign your Unc0ver jailbreak app and you can easily re-jailbreak it with the Unc0ver app after restarting your iPhone or iPad.

Being untied means that you can keep your jailbreak status even after restarting your iPhone or iPad and without the delicate need to re-run jailbreak tools or re-sign jailbreak apps. AKA resistance. You can find more information about the existing types of jailbreaks in our detailed post.
Unc0ver version 7.0.1 or later is still a semi-untethered jailbreak if you reboot into a jailed state. A full untethered jailbreak could show up at a later date.
This is how you get the Sileo package manager for the unc0ver jailbreak
Given the gravity of the situation, it’s worth noting that Fugu14 has been the closest jailbreaker to an unbound jailbreak since the days of iOS 9. This is a historic achievement in today’s jailbreaking community, to say the least.
Now that the Fugu14 Untether can be installed over the Unc0ver jailbreak (at least on supported devices) the waiting game starts to see if and when other jailbreak tools like checkra1n and Taurine add support.
