The gnome music player is available in Ubuntu 19.10 and higher, and the main Ubuntu repository. But it is always old.

To install the latest version, you can use one of the following: Containerized Flatpak package, Or Official Ubuntu PPA..

1.) Open a terminal from the system application launcher. Once open, run the command to add the PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnumdk/lollypop

Enter the user password (without asterisk feedback) when prompted and press Enter to continue. So far PPA has provided the latest packages for older versions of Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 19.10 and Ubuntu 18.04.

2.) After adding the PPA, upgrade the player from the existing release via Software Updater.

Uninstall:

To uninstall the PPA repository, run the command in terminal.
