How to install unrar on Fedora 30/29

How do I install unrar on Fedora 30 / Fedora 29. Unrar is a command line tool for extracting files from rar archives. For unexplained reasons, there is no unrar package in Fedora’s repository.

of Unrar The package is available on the RPM Fusion repository. RPM Fusion provides software that the Fedora Project or Red Hat does not want to distribute. The software is provided as a pre-compiled RPM for all current Fedora and Red Hat systems.

Step 1: Add the RPM Fusion repository

Before installing unrar, you need to manually add the RPM Fusion repository to your system.

Fedora 30:

sudo dnf install -y
sudo dnf install -y

Fedora 29:

sudo dnf install -y
sudo dnf install -y

After adding them, you can install the unrar tool on Fedora.

Step 2: Install unrar on Fedora

Use dnf package manager to install unrar on Fedora from RPM Fusion repository.

sudo dnf install -y unrar

Type unrar on the terminal to test the installation and check the usage page.

Use unrar to test the integrity of the files to be extracted.

$ unrar t myfile.rar

Then unzip the file.

$ unrar e myfile.rar
