How to install XAMPP on Fedora 31/30/29

This guide will guide you through the installation of XAMPP on Fedora 31/30/29. XAMPP is easy to install and use an Apache distribution that includes MariaDB, PHP and Perl. It was originally created for the Windows environment, but can also run on Linux systems.

For Fedora and any other Linux system, the recommended setting is the LAMP or LEMP stack. See our installation guide on how to install LAMP Stack on Fedora. If you want to install XAMPP on Fedora 31/30/29, perform the following steps.

Step 1: Update the system

Make sure your Fedora system is updated.

sudo dnf -y update

Step 2: Download and install XAMPP on Fedora 31/30/29

After the system is updated, download the XAMPP installer.

sudo dnf -y install wget
wget https://www.apachefriends.org/xampp-files/7.3.6/xampp-linux-x64-7.3.6-2-installer.run

Give the package an execution bit.

chmod +x xampp-linux-x64-7.3.6-2-installer.run

Run the installer.

$ sudo ./xampp-linux-x64-7.3.6-2-installer.run

Follow the installation screen.

1 – Accept the installation wizard.

2 – Select the components to be installed

3 – Select the location where the XAMPP software package will be installed.

4 – Agree to install XAMPP on Fedora

In order to successfully install XAMPP on Fedora, you should get the output shown below.

 Installing
 0% ______________ 50% ______________ 100%
 #########################################

Setup has finished installing XAMPP on your computer.

Step 3: Launch and use XAMPP on Fedora

XAMPP is installed to / opt / lampp /. To start the XAMPP service, run:

$ sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start

That’s all there is to installing XAMPP on Fedora Desktop. To uninstall XAMPP on Fedora, run:

cd /opt/lampp
sudo ./uninstall
sudo rm-rf /opt/lampp
