Android 12 has added a lot of new features Google Pixel Devices, but it also took away quite a bit. The camera shortcut that was long on the lock screen is gone. How do you open the camera quickly?
Fortunately, Android devices offer a few different methods for launching the camera quickly. Google Pixel Devices are no different. The lock screen shortcut was handy, but it’s not really the fastest method. There is something better than that.
The fastest way to open your camera on Android
A short summary: Google Pixel Android 12 devices have two shortcuts on the lock screen – smart home device controls and the wallet. Previously, these two shortcuts were for the phone and the camera.
To start the camera without the lock screen shortcut, simply press the power button twice. The camera opens immediately.
It works from anywhere. That includes the lock screen and when the display isn’t even turned on. Just press the power button twice and the camera will start. Dead easy.
Note: This does not bypass the security on your lock screen. It just opens the camera. You must properly unlock your Pixel smartphone to get out of the camera.
There: no more worrying about missing a moment because you couldn’t get your camera out fast enough. It’s a little strange that Google is removing this shortcut, but it makes sense to use the power button to start the camera.
