Google includes a hidden “Easter Egg” with every new version of Android. Android 11 has one of the more elaborate Easter eggs as it is actually a game that you can play. We’ll show you how to find it and play it.
The Android 11 Easter Egg game is a reboot of the game that came with Android 7.0 Nougat. It’s all about attracting and collecting virtual cats on your phone. The idea sounds strange, but it’s quite addicting.
The best new features in Android 11, available now
The first step is to find the Easter Egg and activate the game. On your Android 11 phone or tablet, swipe down from the top of the screen (once or twice, depending on the device manufacturer), then select the gear icon to open the Settings menu.
Next, scroll all the way down and tap on “About Phone”.
Select “Android Version” there.
At last, tap on “Android Version” repeatedly until you get to some sort of volume control.
This is the Android 11 Easter Egg, but it’s just the beginning. To start the cat collecting game, you have to turn the rotary button from 1 to 10 three times. The third attempt goes past 10 and shows the “11” logo.
After the “11” logo appears, you will see a cat emoji in a toast notification at the bottom of your screen. This means that the game has been activated.
The aim of the game is to collect cats. You do this by filling virtual water and food bowls and playing with cat toys. To begin, press and hold the physical “power” button on your phone or tablet. Tap the three-dot menu icon.
Next, choose “Add Controls” from the menu.
At the bottom of the screen, tap See Other Apps.
What we want here is “cat controls”.
Check the box for all three controls to add them to your power menu. Then tap on “Save”.
Back in the Power menu, if you don’t see Cat Control, tap the down arrow and select it.
Now you can tap the buttons to fill the soda maker, add food to the bowl, or play with the toy. Once you’ve done these things all that’s left to do is wait for a cat to appear on your notifications.
Tap the notification when it appears and you will be directed to your cat collection. Select one of the cats to rename it.
That’s all the game has to offer! It’s a simple little background activity that will surprise you with a cat on occasion. Just make sure the water and food are full and play with the toys.
