How to Reset Your Advertising ID on Android

The phone in your pocket has a unique “Advertising ID” that advertising companies can use to track your app activity. While you can’t remove this ID, you can reset it to clear all of your activity.

Promotional IDs are on iPhones, iPads, Windows PCs and. available Android devices. They work in a similar way to “cookies” in web browsers. Your activity is tracked, shared – and sometimes sold – and then used to serve ads that you are more likely to click.

You cannot completely remove or turn off the Advertising ID. The best thing you can do is reset the ID. This will wipe the board clean, and if you do it regularly you won’t get a great log of information. You can also opt out of personalized advertising.

First, swipe down from the top of the screen once or twice, then tap the gear icon to open the settings menu.
