How to restart bind9 service on Linux / Debian / Ubuntu / CentOS / RHEL / Fedora etc.

1 Usually we can restart the bind9 service with the following command (if the system is using systemd)

systemctl restart named

2 If the above command fails, try to find the correct service name for bind9

systemctl list-units --type=service | grep -i bind

Output example

named.service loaded active running BIND Domain Name Server

Now we know that for this system the bind service is running under the name “named“
