How to stop websites from asking for your location in Safari on iPhone

Often times, websites in Safari bother you so they can access your location services to see where you are. You can turn off these prompts on the iPhone and iPad and even prevent the browser from fully accessing the location services. Here is how.

First, open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad. Scroll down and choose Safari.

Scroll down until you see the “Website Settings” section. There tap on “Location”.


Select “Decline”.


Now Safari will automatically block websites from sending the prompts asking for your location. Unfortunately, at this point in time, Safari doesn’t allow whitelisting of websites that can request your location.

How to turn off Location Services for Safari on iPhone and iPad

If you want to prevent Safari from fully accessing Location Services for all websites, you can disable access.

Note: Remember, you cannot use your iPhone’s location in Safari at all. Instead, you can turn off precise location services and allow apps to only see your approximate location.

First open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad and select “Data protection”.


Tap on Location Services.

Tap Location Services.

Choose Safari Websites.


Under Allow Location Access, select Never.


Once disabled, websites will no longer be able to use Location Services in Safari on your iPhone or iPad.
