The social media company added “layers” to your Snap Map experience with the introduction of two features designed to make Snap Map more interactive. Read on to find out what these are and how to use them.
Snapchat Adds reminders and exploration capabilities to Snap Map
Snapchat has added Layers, a new feature that adds dimension to your Snap Map experience, with Memories and Explore being the first two layers to be introduced.
memories helps you relive old memories by looking at snapshots you have taken of certain places in the past that appear as pictures on the map. Reminders are private, which means that only you can view them.
Discover helps you keep up with what other users are doing – be it your friends, celebrities, or Snapchatters around the world. You can tap highlighted regions to view public photos and videos taken by. were submitted Snapchat Users anywhere in the world.
Snapchat Users appear as Bitmoji on the card, whatever Snapchat is referred to as “Actionmoji” in this new map feature. Actionmoji will appear on Snap Map when you want to share your location. You can share your location with all of your friends, specific friends, or with anyone (also known as ghost mode).
The two levels should make it easier for you to find what you are looking for, e.g. For example, places of interest you want to visit, where your favorite singer is performing, or what your friends are doing.
How to use Snapchat Reminders and Explore functions
Start using the Reminders and Explore features to see what you and other Snapchatters are up to. Just follow the steps below to get started.
To access layers:
- Start the Snapchat App on your device.
- Tap the Snap Map Icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
- Tap the Layer menu in the top right corner of the map, just below the Settings icon.
- You can switch between the two levels to access what you are looking for by tapping the menu.
How to use Snapchat Discover
When you tap for the first time Snap Map Icon, you will land on Discover where you can see where other users took snapshots.
You can zoom in and out of the map, or navigate the map to explore other areas. When you land in an area, tap its name at the top of the screen to view snapshots taken by other users there.
Tap Puts at the bottom of the screen to view popular spots and places in and around your area, as well as places you’ve favorite and visited.
You can type friends to see what your friends were up to, including theirs Final moves, provided you have chosen to share your location.
You can also scroll down and page through World updates where you can tap any place or event to view snapshots of users who have visited those places or attended the events listed.
How to use Snapchat memories
If you switch to memories, you will find snapshots that you took in the past. Just tap your photo on the map to view the Snap you posted in that area.
Zoom out on the map to see all of the snapshots you’ve taken in other areas.
Snap Map creates a global community
Both the Explore and Memories layers are great additions to Snap Map, but the Explore layer in particular connects you with users around the world, all within one map, creating more of a virtual global community.
