Hyper is a free, open source, simple and beautiful terminal application for Linux, MacOS, and Windows. It is based on Html, Css, TypeScript (Electron) and is released under the MIT license. Comes with plugin support to extend functionality. Other features include emoji support and theme support. It also comes with a WebGL Renderer, which you can use to speed up the rendering process. This article describes how to install the HyperTerminal app on Ubuntu Linux.
Install HyperTerminal on Ubuntu
HyperTerminal applications are available via portable AppImage and native deb package files.
Install Hyper via AppImage.
Download Hyper in .AppImage file format from the link below and save it in your download folder.
Open the terminal app (ctrl + alt + t) and execute the following command.
sudo chmod +x ~ hyper-3.0.2-x86_64.AppImage
Here, “hyper-3.0.2-x86_64.AppImage” is the downloaded file name. Change the above command based on the file name.
Then run the following command to run Hyper.
Install Hyper via deb.

Download the hyper in deb file format and save it in the download folder. Then execute the following command.
sudo dpkg -i hyper_3.0.2_amd64.deb
sudo apt install -f
Replace “hyper_3.0.2_amd64.deb” with the downloaded file name.
