From MicrosoftSQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is an integrated environment for managing any SQL infrastructure from SQL Server to Azure SQL Database. SSMS provides tools for configuring, monitoring, and managing SQL Server and database instances. Using SSMS, you can deploy, monitor, and upgrade the data-tier components used by your application, and build queries and scripts.
You are free to use SSMS to query, design and manage databases and data warehouses on your local computer or anywhere in the cloud. Best of all, Microsoft provides this tool for free. You will find the download link here Microsoft website. We should start working now.
Step 1: Install the application
Browse to the folder where you downloaded the executable and double-click the folder to begin the installation process.
After the installer starts, you can choose a different installation location or leave the default location. Click “installation“start installation.
The installer will start loading packages, which may take some time.
Step 2: Restart the computer
When the installation is complete, you will see the following message asking you to restart to complete the installation. I know it’s boring, but we have no choice. Just click “Restart“Button to restart your Windows 10 computer so we can complete the installation process.
Step 3: Load SQL Server Management Studio
After restarting your computer, click “Windows“Button and search for”SQL Server Management Studio“And click to launch the application.
After that, your SQL Server Management Studio will be displayed as shown below.
Step 4: Make sure the database instance is configured correctly
Make sure the DB instance is configured to listen on a specific port and that the port is running and allowed by Windows Firewall.

Step 5: Connect to the database instance
If your server has a resolvable name (the internal DNS can resolve it to an IP address), enter that name in the server name field. Otherwise, just type the IP address of the SQL Server. change”verification method” to “SQL Server authentication“Unless you have joined the server to a domain controller. Enter a login username, such as”SA“((Default admin), then enter their password. We should be able to log in and display something like the image below.
