Lightworks is an open source video editing software application that can be installed on Linux, Windows and macOS operating systems. This is an alternative to commercial video editor applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X. In this guide, we will explain how to download and install Lightworks Video Editor on Fedora Linux operating system.

Lightworks provides extensive native format support in any professional NLE. MXF, Quicktime and AVI containers, almost every format can be considered from ProRes, Avid DNxHD, AVC-Intra, DVCPRO HD, RED R3D, DPX, AVCHD (with AC3 audio), H for native import without transcoding. 264, XDCAM EX / HD 422, all on the same timeline in real time.

Install Lightworks Video Editor on 33/32/31/30

As of this update, the new version of Lightworks is 2021.1. This version contains a lot of new features and improvements. For example, the project frame rate limit has been completely removed, allowing media with any frame rate (including variable rates) to be imported into the project for playback, recording, and seamless addition to the sequence.

Download the Lightworks RPM package

The Lightworks software packages for various Linux operating systems are available at: Publish page Obtained from the official Lightworks website.

On Red Hat-based systems (such as Fedora), you will download .RPM package. This can be done manually from the download page using wget/curl from the command line.

sudo yum -y install wget
wget https://cdn.lwks.com/releases/2021.1/lightworks_2021.1_r126716.rpm

Make sure the version you are downloading is the latest.

Install Lightworks Video Editor on Fedora

After downloading the software package to the local system, use the yum command to install it.

sudo yum localinstall lightworks_2021.1_r126716.rpm

After installation, start on Fedora and start using Lightworks Video Editor.
