Install Microsoft Teams on Fedora / Ubuntu / Debian Linux

Microsoft has released its Teams application for Linux users. Microsoft Teams is an application for unified communications and collaboration through video conferencing, messaging and chat, file sharing, and integration with other applications (such as git), monitoring tools, CI / CD pipelines, and more. This guide will discuss how to install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu / Fedora and Debian Linux operating systems.

Install Microsoft Teams on Fedora

The rpm package is available for Fedora and CentOS users. These packages can be downloaded from Publish page.

wget https://packages.microsoft.com/yumrepos/ms-teams/teams-1.2.00.32451-1.x86_64.rpm

After downloading the package, use the dnf command to install it.

$ sudo dnf localinstall teams-1.2.00.32451-1.x86_64.rpm

Install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu / Debian Linux

We installed Microsoft Teams on Fedora using the rpm package for Debian and Ubuntu Linux computers, we will use .deb package.

wget https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/ms-teams/pool/main/t/teams/teams_1.2.00.32451_amd64.deb

Then install Teams on Ubuntu / Debian Linux machine using the following command:

sudo dpkg -i teams_1.2.00.32451_amd64.deb

If you encounter dependency issues, run:

sudo apt -y -f install

Launch and use Microsoft Teams on Linux

After installation, launch the application using the command line interface or from the desktop environment.

Provide your organization’s email address to log in or create a new account, then click “next“.
