Step 1: Update your Debian system
Make sure the system is updated.
sudo apt -y update && sudo apt -y upgrade
After upgrading, you may need to restart.
Step 2: Add the OpenProject APT repository
Import OpenProject’s repository GPG key:
sudo apt update sudo apt -y install gnupg2 wget apt-transport-https wget -qO- https://dl.packager.io/srv/opf/openproject/key | sudo apt-key add -
After importing the repository key, add the OpenProject Community repository to your Debian 10 system.
sudo wget -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openproject.list https://dl.packager.io/srv/opf/openproject/dev/installer/debian/10.repo
Step 3: Install OpenProject Community Edition on Debian 10 (Buster)
After adding the repository, proceed to install OpenProject Community Edition on your Debian 10 (Buster) Linux computer.
sudo apt update sudo apt -y install openproject
The openproject package provides an installer. Please run the following command to complete the installation:
sudo openproject configure
Choose whether to use an external database or install one locally.
Choose to install Apache2 web server.
Set the FQDN of the server.
Set the project path prefix. If you leave this option, the installation will be at the root of the domain.
Select it to use SSL.
If you want SVN, you can choose to install it. Git is on the next screen.
I will choose to install and use Git.
Enter the directory to host the Git repository.
Do the same for the CGI script.
Set up the sendmail application to use.
Enter the administrator email for access and notification.
Then, finally install Memcache server.
Step 4: Visit the OpenProject dashboard
To log in to the web console as an administrator user:
Username: admin Password: admin
After logging in for the first time, you need to change the administrator password.
After logging in, you have the option to import demo data to help you get started with OpenProject on Debian 10 (Buster) Linux.
