Plex is a server for media streaming. It can store all media content in one place and access them using client applications (for example, another computer or mobile device). The Plex server organizes the uploaded content in an appropriate way so that clients can easily access them.

We will download the latest Plex media server for Ubuntu 20.04 / Debian 10 from the Plex website.

Step 1: Download the Plex Media Server Deb software package

Step 3: Check Plex media server status

After installation, the Plex Media server will run automatically. Check the status as follows:

$ sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver.service

Now, enable the Plex server to start automatically when the system starts by running the following command:

sudo systemctl enable plexmediaderver.service

If you are running an active firewall, make sure to open port 32400 through the firewall as shown below:

sudo ufw allow 32400

Step 4: Configure Plex Media Server on Ubuntu 20.04 | Debian 10

Access the Plex Media server on port 32400 from a browser to configure it.In the browser, enter http: // : 32400 / web. You should see a screen displayed prompting you to log in to the plex.
