In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to install Ajenti Control Panel on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS server. For those of you who don’t know, Ajenti is a hosting control panel that makes it very easy to create a website. It comes with a modern interface, so creating application servers, databases, and routing shouldn’t be difficult. Moreover, it comes with great language support. Using Ajenti, you can set up applications written in PHP (PHP-FPM), Python (WSGI), Ruby, and Node.js in fast time. Exim 4 and Courier IMAP are configured automatically so you can use virtual emails, DKIM, DMARC, and SPF. This control panel is written in Python and runs on several Linux distributions.
This article assumes that you at least have basic Linux knowledge, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. Installation is very straightforward and assumes that you are running under the root account unless you can add “sudo” to the commands to gain superuser privileges. Installing Ajenti Control Panel on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Step 1. First, make sure all system packages are up to date by running these apt-get command in a terminal.
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
Step 2. Installing the Ajenti control panel.
The first method for a quick automatic installation:
wget -O- https://raw.github.com/ajenti/ajenti/1.x/scripts/install-ubuntu.sh | sudo sh
Alternatively, we can easily install Ajenti on Ubuntu systems using the Ajenti repository package:
wget http://repo.ajenti.org/debian/key -O- | sudo apt-key add - echo "deb http://repo.ajenti.org/ng/debian main main ubuntu" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
Install the package:
apt-get install ajenti
systemctl start ajenti
Step 3. Access to the Anjeti control panel.
Anjeti will be available on http on port 8000 by default. Open your favorite browser and go to http://yourdomain.com:8000 or http: // server-IP: 8000 and enter the default username “admin” or “root” and the password “admin”.
