iPhone 11 review in 2020: 6 months of daily use

Apple has the. introduced iPhone 11 , iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max on September 10, 2019. Although the other two models were dubbed the “Pro”, it was actually the iPhone 11 that blew everyone away. Thanks to the fantastic camera, the fantastic color choices, the lightning-fast processor and most of all the affordable price, the iPhone 11 became a success right after its launch

I have been using the iPhone 11 as my daily driver for about 6 months and now I share my honest opinion on it. For me, the iPhone 11 was the real star and the simplest fan in Apple’s iPhone 11 series. It was the first time Apple released an iPhone at a lower price than last year. Yes, the iPhone 11 launched for $ 699 compared to $ 749 for the iPhone XR . Without a doubt, price was a major driver of the iPhone 11’s whopping sales.

The gorgeous color options

First, I want to talk about the amazing color options that the iPhone 11 offers. Gone are the days of those super bright and garish colors. With the new Lilac, Mint Green and Pale Yellow, Apple is offering a range of subtle and soft colors for the iPhone 11. Aside from these colors, you can also get the evergreen black, white and the signature product red.

For me, Mint Green was something that really excited me. I made up my mind to grab this super nice shade. But every time I see the color black, it touches my heart every time. So I ended up buying a black iPhone 11, and seriously, I don’t regret it. I think black looks super classy and you can never get bored with this color. Aside from that. I rarely use my phone without a case, I love experimenting with different cases, and my black iPhone 11 goes wonderfully with any case color. This is also a more personal decision. For someone who loves to try unique hues, the iPhone 11 is sure to impress.

draft

The iPhone 11 has mixed ratings when it comes to size. When I was planning to buy an iPhone 11, a lot of my friends told me it was very big and heavy. In addition, they are the standard size iPhone 7 For almost three years, even I hesitated to switch to a phone that many people thought was huge. But within a few days of using the iPhone 11, I had no complaints about its size or weight. In fact, I’m in love with this bigger screen.

The minute I held the iPhone 11 in my hand, it felt like a truly top-notch flagship smartphone. The iPhone 11 has an aluminum frame that encloses the all-glass front and back. The entire case has a glossy finish, with the exception of the matte glass square that houses the dual lens rear view camera. I think the matte square adds interesting contrast to the overall look of the phone. The glass on the iPhone 11 is really hard. I had accidentally dropped my iPhone with my regular case for less than $ 5 in the washroom, bed, and desk many times, but it survived. In addition, there have been no major scratches or dents so far. This makes the iPhone 11 a durable and solid phone that even the most clumsy of users can handle.

The iPhone 11 also has an IP68 rating, which means that it can be immersed in water up to 2 meters deep for 30 minutes. I accidentally spilled water, dropped my phone in a bucket several times and it got through that really well. It’s such a sense of relief that you don’t always have to worry about what will happen if I drop my phone.

The iPhone 11 has a 6.1 inch liquid retina display, yes the screen is LCD but you won’t even notice it. Despite a resolution of 1792 x 828 pixels, the screen is clear, bright and sharp. I love watching movies and series on my iPhone 11, but one thing I really don’t admire is the thicker bezels. Nowadays where even the mid-range phones are with Edge-to-Edge- and are equipped with almost no-notch displays, you may not be impressed with somewhat thick bezels. Otherwise I don’t find any problems with the display. Plus, it’s fun to edit photos, swiping typing feels buttery smooth, and all the praise goes to iOS 13.

All in all, the colors are beautifully vibrant and have excellent brightness. Those who like higher quality OLED displays with better contrast and sharp text can of course get the iPhone 11 Pro. But personally I don’t care, a beautiful and vibrant display is all I want. I also find that the iPhone 11 sits perfectly between the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro and the exhausted 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max.

camera

When I got my iPhone 11, one thing I was looking forward to the most was the powerful dual sensor rear camera. First, I’d like to mention what I love most about the iPhone 11 camera.

  • The night mode is one of the most outstanding features of the iPhone 11 camera. It brings the right brightness and clarity even into the impossibly dark scenes. When I first used it, I was really blown away with the results I got with almost zero light. I also love that I don’t have to use a flashlight to take photos at night. Instead, I can automatically take warm, day-like photos in low or even almost no light without having to play around with settings. Night mode is definitely the game changer for lovers of low light photography like me.

I am sharing 2 pictures, the first one I took in a club in very low light. The second has two shots from my balcony with almost zero light.

  • The 12 MP front camera takes amazingly bright and natural-looking selfies with good detail retention both outdoors and indoors. You can even take a slow mo selfie known as a slofie with sharp slow motion effects.
  • the Fashion portrait is also much better than the previous iPhones including the XR model.
  • the Quick Start This function makes it easy to switch between photo and video mode. Just hold the shutter button, swipe right, and start recording a video. I find it very useful, especially at times when I don’t want to miss any seconds when switching between modes.
  • I also got some amazing videos on iPhone 11 thanks to its 4K video recording capabilities at 60 frames per second. The autofocus is good and both lenses can be used in 4K with 60fps.

The iPhone 11 has a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor, along with the main wide-angle shooter. I find the photos I took with the ultra-wide sensor to be good, with little distortion towards the edges of the frame and sharp details. Above all, I don’t use the ultra-wide camera very often, I rarely come across situations in which I want to capture something outside of the frame. But yes, it comes in very handy when I want to capture some artistic scenes or add a little drama to the regular footage.

battery

After using it for almost 5 months now, I can safely say that the iPhone 11 has a super impressive battery backup. With regular use, it easily lasts for about a day and a half, sometimes it can even be stretched for up to 2 days. I watch movies, series, and play a few games every day, but I can hardly think of a case where I’ve run out of charge. Also, I haven’t experienced any abnormal drainage.

Among the most annoying things about the iPhone 11 comes the normal 5 watt wall cube charger. There is no Fast charger The box doesn’t even include the Lightning-to-USB-C cable, only the iPhone 11 Pro models come with the 18W charger and Type-C cable. Seriously I mean, can you wait almost 4 hours to charge your iPhone from 1 percent to 100 percent? This gets seriously irritating at times. So it’s better to get yourself a quick charger and get rid of the 5W charger.

power

The camera and battery aside, I’m in love with the ultra-smooth and lightning-fast performance of the iPhone 11. Whether I mix between 5-6 apps at the same time or play some CPU intensive games like PUBG, I haven’t experienced any lag or sluggishness. Thanks to the super fast A13 Bionic Chip, I can’t even remember a single case in 5 months where I felt like my phone was a little slow. Also, I want to mention that I didn’t find it my cell phone is overheating while I like long streaming or gaming sessions. Yes, it gets a little warm in super long sessions, but I think that’s pretty normal.

Like the iPhone 11 is Wi-Fi 6 compatible , it gives me benefits like longer battery life, which I am already in love with, faster data transfer speed, and better performance. In short, Apple has ticked all the boxes when it comes to super-fast performance on the iPhone 11.

There has been a mess with FaceID in the past few weeks. I couldn’t unlock my phone, but the iOS 13.4.1 upgrade made things look better again. Just one look from your seat and you are done.

I would also like to announce that the iPhone 11 does very well in terms of sound too. The stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support offer immersive and balanced sound quality. The first time I saw an action movie trailer on my iPhone 11, it felt like I was seeing something with real sound systems; I mean it was that good.

Now let’s get to the most important part: should you buy the iPhone 11? Well, I think the iPhone 11 is the best iPhone I’ve ever owned. From an excellent camera to an insane battery to top performance, everything has been really well crafted to strike the right balance. I don’t mind having an LCD display as long as it’s vibrant, super smooth, and responsive. I would have no complaints if Apple had provided a quick charger or a Lightning to USB-C cable right in the box.

If you already own an iPhone XR, there’s almost no need to upgrade other than experimenting with some soothing hues. On the other hand, if you’re sticking to a year old device and looking for a fantastic upgrade, the iPhone 11 is really worth it. I firmly believe that the iPhone 11 is the best phone that you can own on this budget. After all, it’s a great deal to get an aesthetically pleasing device with a powerful night mode camera, battery, and power for $ 699. It’s obviously not cheap, but it’s an affordable high-performance device from Apple.

If your budget is tight and you’re looking for a way to snag a slice of Apple’s smartphone cake, this is it the iPhone SE 2020 . It’s a mid-range iPhone with the imaging capabilities of iPhone XR and the performance of the iPhone 11 in the case of the iPhone 8.
