KeePass 2.47 has been released! How to install on Ubuntu 20.04, 20.10.

KeePass Password Manager 2.47 has been released with user interface and integration enhancements, minor new features and improvements.

Highlights of KeePass 2.47 Release:

  • Save the search parameters as a profile and in the menu[検索]->[プロファイルの検索]Access from.
  • Add an “XPath expression” search mode.
  • Add the “Histop” option to the search dialog.
  • Add a Help button to the search dialog.
  • Add an automatic type matching option’consider similar dashes as identical’.
  • Add the commands Copy Group (encrypted), Copy Group (unencrypted), and Paste Group.
  • A {TIMEOTP} placeholder is added to generate a time-based one-time password.
  • Enhanced XML key file format.
  • Add the command “Print key file backup”.
  • Add the command “Create Key File”.
  • Add an Argon2id key derivation function.
  • Added support for importing Dashlane 6.2039.0 JSON files.
  • Add some more options to the import / export dialog.
  • Plugins can now disable / enable certain Mono workarounds.

How to install KeePass 2.47 on Ubuntu via PPA:

I have a Linux native community fork KeePassXC Available, but KeePass 2 continues Ubuntu PPA.. So far, the PPA supports Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Ubuntu 20.04.

1.) Open a terminal and run the command to add the PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/keepass2

2.) Then use the command to update the system package cache.

sudo apt update

3.) Finally, install the mono-based password safe package.

sudo apt install keepass2

Uninstall KeePass2.

To remove the software package, run the command in the terminal.

sudo apt remove --autoremove keepass2

Then remove Ubuntu PPA via command.

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/keepass2
