LibreOffice, Ubuntu’s default office suite, released version 7.1 almost a month ago. The new release features a new add dialog for better integration of extensions, a new user interface selection dialog, and a new widget with a style preview in a tabbed notebook bar.
LibreOffice Math fully supports HTML colors and new examples of element panes. The Writer application features faster find / replace, a new style inspector, and improved Unicode detection in documents. LibreOffice Impress gets new animation presets and adds a Pause / Resume and Exit buttons.
How to install LibreOffice 7.1 via Ubuntu PPA:
For Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 20.10, Linux Mint 20, first open a terminal and run the command to add the PPA.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
Enter your user password (without asterisk feedback) when prompted and press Enter to continue.
Then open Software Updater and you’ll see the Office suite package updates after checking for updates.
Install all the updates and you’re done!
How to restore:
For some reason, you can restore the Office suite to its original pre-installed version by running a command in the terminal to remove the PPA.
sudo apt install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:libreoffice/ppa
