Want to make an ambient sound? Try Blanket, an open source tool with a modern user interface.

Blanket is a GTK application that can play some ambient sounds such as:

  • Bird barks
  • summer night
  • Rain, storm, wind.
  • Coffee shop, fireplace.
  • White noise, pink noise.
  • Trains, boats, and towns.

Each sound has a volume control so you get a mixed sound.

How to install Blanket on Ubuntu:

For software Official Ubuntu PPASo far, we are offering packages for Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 20.10, and Ubuntu 21.04.

1.) Open a terminal from the system app launcher. When the terminal opens, run the command to add the PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:apandada1/blanket

Enter your user password (without asterisk feedback) when prompted and press Enter to continue.

2.) Then run the apt command to install.

sudo apt install blanket

Once installed, open it from the System App Launcher and have fun!

Uninstall the blanket

To remove a PPA[ソフトウェアとアップデート]->[その他のソフトウェア]Go to or run the following command:

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:apandada1/blanket

To remove the ambient noise player, run the following command:

sudo apt remove --auto-remove blanket
