After months of speculation and market rumors, the OnePlus Nord 2 finally celebrated its official debut on July 22, 2021 YouTube Stream event. The OnePlus Nord 2 is the eagerly awaited successor to last year’s OnePlus Nord. It’s one of the best budget phones to hit the market this year with some killer specs. OnePlus offers flagship-like specs in Nord 2 that keep the price in the mid-range budget. It wouldn’t be bad if I call it a “budget flagship killer”. The overall design and rectangular camera setup of the Nord 2 give that OnePlus 9 Mood to it.
Foregoing the usual Snapdragon processors, OnePlus introduced MediaTek’s best chipset, Dimensity 1200 AI SoC, for flagship-like performance in the Nord 2. All thanks to the dual 5G slots and WLAN 6 Compatibility, you can experience blazing fast internet speeds.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G specs
The OnePlus Nord 2 has a 6.43 ″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels (FHD +). It is worth mentioning that the OnePlus Nord 2 offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz and is HDR10 + certified. As far as workmanship is concerned, the new Nord 2 5G comes with a plastic frame and Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back.
Let’s not forget that the Nord 2 5G is the first OnePlus phone to include a MediaTek chipset. Previously, most OnePlus phones ran on Snapdragon processors (including the most powerful OnePlus 9 Pro). OnePlus claims that this processor is packaged to offer flagship-like performance to users. The latest budget phone runs on Android 11 and OxygenOS 11.3. OnePlus has also announced two major Android updates and three years Security updates on Nord2 5G. However, no timeline was mentioned for it.
Next to the charging port you will find a fingerprint sensor in the display and two stereo speakers. Possibly a major setback for all music lovers out there, there is no audio jack in the OnePlus Nord 2.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G camera and battery
The OnePlus Nord 2’s camera setup is similar to that of the OnePlus 9. With a 50 MP Sony IMX 766 sensor in the rear camera setup, OnePlus Nord 2 offers a somewhat similar image quality to that OnePlus 9 Pro. The 8MP Ultrawide Sony IMX 355 sensor and the 2MP GalaxyCore GC02M1 sensor macro sensor do their job perfectly. Without a doubt, it is a festival for all lovers of mobile photography.
OnePlus has upgraded the game for selfie lovers by including a 32 MP camera on the front. You will also find various proprietary functions such as AI Video Enhancement, Nightscape Ultra, AI Photo Enhancement, UltraShot HDR, Dual Video, Portrait Mode and a Pro Mode. Unlike the original OnePlus Nord, however, the selfie camera is not paired with an ultrawide sensor.
The OnePlus Nord 2 comes with a fairly large 4500 mAh battery. What’s even more impressive is the 65W Warp Charge support. The company claims that 15 minutes of warp speed charging is enough to keep you energized for a full day.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G price and availability
OnePlus Nord 2 5G is available in three different versions. The version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs 27,999 yen and will be available from August 2021. OnePlus Buds Pro
In addition to the majestic Nord 2 5G, OnePlus Buds Pro was also presented. The company claims the OnePlus Buds Pro will redefine the entire listening experience. It is available in two different colors (matte black and glossy white) with intelligent adaptive noise cancellation. According to OnePlus, the ANC can be set so that it filters outside noise to up to 40 dB.
OnePlus’ Buds Pros can be charged wirelessly by simply placing them on the back of the company’s most powerful flagship, the OnePlus 9 Pro. You can also charge it with a 65W warp charger. It is worth mentioning that the OnePlus Buds Pro should offer 10 hours of battery life with 10 minutes of 65 W warp charging. It will be available in the US region starting September 1 this year for $ 149.
