OnePlus has marked its entry into the smartwatch market with its premium-looking and feature-rich OnePlus Watch. It was unveiled along with the OnePlus 9 series on March 23, 2021 at a global online-only event. The OnePlus 9 series comprises three models, the high-end mid-range OnePlus 9 , a true flagship OnePlus 9 Pro , and the eagerly awaited OnePlus 9R . Back to the OnePlus Watch, a high-end wearable designed with the same focus on stylish looks and advanced features. Just like that Apple Watch Series 6 , the OnePlus Watch can also monitor the oxygen level in the blood.
Specifications of the OnePlus watch
The OnePlus Watch has a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 2.5D curved glass protection. Instead of going for the elongated rectangular design like Apple and other popular smartwatches, the company opted for a sleek, circular design that resembles the Samsung Watch Active. The OnePlus Watch is only available in a 46mm case with interchangeable watch straps.
In addition to the stainless steel option, OnePlus has also launched the Cobalt Limited Edition, which is made from a cobalt alloy, a sapphire crystal dial paired with a leather strap.
OnePlus didn’t use WearOS on this high-end smartwatch, instead opting for an RTOS-style software setup with a companion app that allows it to connect to a phone. This smartwatch offers more than 50 customizable watch faces.
It’s worth noting that the OnePlus Watch is not currently compatible with iOS devices.
OnePlus Watch health and fitness functions
The OnePlus Watch has 110 training modes, built-in GPS and a 5ATM IP68 rating that makes swimming safe. It can monitor heart rate, stress levels, sleep patterns and blood oxygen levels. The watch offers 2GB of internal storage for music, so users can store up to 500 tracks to listen to on their bluetooth headphones while exercising, even when they don’t have their phone with them.
You can also use this smart wearable to track metrics like calories, distance, swimming efficiency and more.
OnePlus TV integration
The OnePlus Watch offers a seamless connection with your phone as well as the OnePlus TV. It can show app notifications and messages, and allows you to receive voice calls or play music. You can also adjust the settings of your OnePlus phone via the clock. One of the main highlights of the OnePlus Watch is that you can use it as a remote control for your phone’s camera or OnePlus TV.
OnePlus says you can use the wearable to control the volume of the TV or turn it on and off. That’s not all. The OnePlus Watch automatically reduces the volume when you make a call. Impressively, it can also tell if you’ve fallen asleep while binge-watching your favorite series and turn off the OnePlus TV after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Battery life of the OnePlus watch
One of the main selling points of the OnePlus Watch is the impressive battery. The OnePlus Watch is equipped with a 402mAh battery that promises a service life of up to two weeks. For power users, the smartwatch promises to provide power for at least a week on a single charge. In addition, the watch is equipped with fast charging functions, with which you can have electricity for a whole day in just 5 minutes and charge your OnePlus Watch for a week in 20 minutes.
This puts the OnePlus Watch miles ahead of the Apple Watch Series 6 and Samsung Watch 3 in terms of battery life.
Price and availability
The standard OnePlus watch costs 16,999 rupees in India, $ 159 in the US, and $ 219 in Canada. You have the choice between Moonlight Silver and Midnight Black. The prices for the Cobalt Limited Edition are not yet known.
In terms of availability, the company has not given an exact date for the launch of these smartwatches. We’re still waiting for the release date.
It will be interesting to see if the OnePlus Watch can impress people with its sleek, rounded design and health monitoring features. Considering the price, the OnePlus Watch is an amazing option for people who need a feature-rich smartwatch at an affordable price.
