All iPhone users have the native phone app pre-installed on their device at the factory. It is the primary means of making outbound calls, whether you choose from your contact list or manually dial a phone number. But one thing is certain: the phone app hasn’t changed much over the years.
Despite all of the existing jailbreak tweaks that can improve the phone app, titand3v’s iOS developer SouthernGirlWhoCode wanted to improve things one more time and did so with the release of a brand new jailbreak tweak called it. successfully done Phoenix .
What is phoenix doing? In short, it brings a complete redesign of the phone app’s contact list. It features aesthetically pleasing makeovers of the favorite and latest contact cell styles, cover photos in the contact details list, and a host of other configurations that weren’t possible before Phoenix’s release, among other things.
In the screenshot examples above, you can see how amazing the redesign looks, and you’ll wonder why Apple’s design team has been so stagnant on redesigns lately. Not only does it offer a bold preview of your contact’s main contact details, but it also highlights grouped contacts such as family members, with easier ways to contact them via action buttons. And why stop here? You can even set a cover photo for each contact.
Phoenix is highly configurable, and a dedicated Settings section is added to the Settings app where users can configure it to their liking:
Options here are:
- Hide or show favorite contacts in the contact lists of the phone app
- Enable or disable haptic feedback
- Configure a custom accent color for the phone app
- Configure a custom color of the call action button
- Configure a custom color for the message action button
- Configure the color of a custom email action button
- Configure a custom color for the delete contact action button
If you’ve been rocking a jailbroken iPhone with cellular service and haven’t downloaded Phoenix yet, all I can say is that you’re missing out. The aesthetic offered by Phoenix ticks all the boxes, dwarfing Apple’s native aesthetic. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, Phoenix also offers improved contact sorting with better cell layout to make your favorite people stand out more.
If you want to try Phoenix for yourself, you can Download Phoenix for free from titand3v Repository through your preferred package manager. We should also note that Phoenix supports all jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices.
If you are not already using titand3v’s repository, you can add it to your package manager app of your choice using the following url:
Are you planning on trying out Phoenix or are you satisfied with the boring experience Apple got out of the box? We love to read your thoughts on this in the comments section below.
