PixeloramaThe free and open source 2D Sprite editor has been updated to version 0.6. In this version, the application supports color palettes, multiple themes, image editing tools (such as color inversion or desaturation), etc.
Pixelorama is a fairly new Sprite editor. It is made using Godot Engine (a cross-platform, free and open source 2D and 3D game engine) and GDScript, which is very suitable for creating pixel art. It can run on Windows, macOS and Linux.
It was first publicly released in September 2019, but its development is very rapid. It has provided tools such as pencils, erasers, filling buckets, color selectors, and animation schedules (with Onion skin), rulers, layers, image import and export, etc.
In the latest Pixelorama 0.6 version, the application has received palette support, and by default provides 6 color palettes: default, single color, bubblegum 16, shadow, complementary color, and triad; Choose between palettes (and edit them), or you can create your own. Another important additional feature in the Pixelorama version is the image menu, which includes new options such as scale, crop, horizontal and vertical flips, invert colors, desaturation and contour lines.
Pixelorama 0.6 also comes with theme support, including 5 themes by default: Dark, Gray, Godot, Gold and Light.
Other changes in Pixelorama 0.6 are worth mentioning:
- Added better circles, solid circles and random brushes
- Added a layer opacity slider, which can be used to change the layer’s alpha value
- Now you can import and export matrix Spritesheets
- Now, if you press Ctrl (in steps of 15 angles), the straight line has a constrained angle
- Enable lower processor usage and reduce the number of calls to “update()” on Canvas and rulers to increase CPU usage
Unzip the downloaded ZIP archive to make the Pixelorama.x86_64 file executable and run the executable file to run it on Linux. You can use a tool like MenuLibre to create application menu items for Pixelorama.
Pixelorama can also be installed on Linux from the following versions FlatHub.
