On the default Gnome desktop, the app window may not be immediately focused when you try to open an application. Instead, a “xxx” ready notification pops up, opening the window behind the currently focused window.
This usually happens when another window is in focus during the process of launching the desired application.
To quickly get rid of the “window ready” notification and focus window, a system response that is fast enough should solve the problem. In addition, you can install the “Focus my window” Gnome extension.
