ThiefMD is a free open source Markdown editor and file manager application for Linux systems. It is inspired by Ulysses and is based on the Quilter project. It is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0. You can export markdown files to PDF, ePub, docx, WriteFreely, Ghost, WordPress and many other file formats. It also imports files from ePub, docx, html.
It comes with auto-save, keyboard shortcuts, KaTeX support, syntax highlighting, YAML front matter, typewriter scrolling, theme support, search, stats writing, full screen editing and focus mode. A live preview is also included. You can see your text in real time in a separate window and focus on your text.
Install ThiefMD on Ubuntu
ThiefMD is available as a flat pack and official PPA. ThiefMD can be installed via the terminal console application.

Install ThiefMD via flatpak
If your system doesn’t have flatpak Install flatpak and flathub On the system. Reboot the system after installation. Open a terminal application and run it under the ThiefMD flatpak installation command.
flatpak install flathub com.github.kmwallio.thiefmd
You can use this command in the terminal to run ThiefMD.
flatpak run com.github.kmwallio.thiefmd
Install ThiefMD via PPA
In a terminal command line application, run the following commands one at a time.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:thiefmd/thiefmd
The above command adds ThiefMD’s PPA to the system. Confirm by pressing Enter during installation.
sudo apt-get update
This will install ThiefMD on your system.
sudo apt-get install com.github.kmwallio.thiefmd
