Use this extension to make Gnome suitable for E-Ink monitors

Would you like to run Ubuntu or other Linux using the Gnome desktop on your E-Ink display? The Gnome Shell extension in E-Ink mode makes it easy to switch the look of your desktop for your monitor.

E-Ink mode extension features:

  • Switch the shell theme to the built-in light high contrast theme (no user theme extensions required).
  • Switch GTK and icon theme to high contrast
  • Switch the cursor theme to DMZ-White
  • Disable shell animation
  • Disabling this extension will restore the previous theme and animation settings

You can do this manually, step by step, but using extensions is as easy as toggle switches in extension tools. And so far, Gnome 3.36 is supported.

How to install the E-Ink mode extension:

1.) For Ubuntu, check first chrome-gnome-shell The package will be installed. Also, in the case of extension toolsthe gnome-shell-extension-prefs package:

sudo apt install chrome-gnome-shell gnome-shell-extension-prefs

2.) Go to the extension web page Turn on the toggle icon to install.

E-Ink mode is enabled when you install the extension. Use extension tools to switch it off or remove it.
