Vivaldi 3.7 released with native Apple M1 support and speed boost

Vivaldi Web Browser 3.7 was released a few days ago. It features improved performance and support for Apple M1 machines.

Vivaldi 3.7 gets a series speed boost. When tested on an Ubuntu 18.04 PC with a 2 GHz Intel Core i3 CPU and 4GB RAM, the browser tab opens twice as fast and the new window opens 26% faster than the previous version.

The new release also adds native support for Apple computers using the new ARM-based M1 processor.

Besides, there are more new features including:

  • Added Kabyle support
  • Added support for configurable document menus
  • Support for regular reloads in the web panel
  • Regular reloads in the web panel
  • Organize a crowded tab bar with two clicks
  • Search for highlight priority options
  • Support for silent updates on Windows.
  • Import Chromium Edge bookmarks

How to install Vivaldi 3.7 on Ubuntu:

You can download the official Ubuntu.DEB package from the link below.

Download Vivaldi (DEB)

Get the deb that matches your OS and install it via either the Ubuntu software installation or the Gdebi package installer. Alternatively, run the command in the terminal.

sudo apt install ./Downloads/vivaldi-stable*.deb

Vivaldi also has an official apt repository where you can install your browser and get future updates via the SoftwareUpdater utility.

Open the terminal by using the Ctrl + Alt + T keyboard shortcut or by searching for the terminal from the application menu. Once open, run the following commands one at a time.

1. Download and install the repository key.

wget -qO- https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo apt-key add -

Enter your user password when prompted and press Enter to continue.

2. Add the Vivaldi repository using the command.

sudo add-apt-repository 'deb https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/deb/ stable main'

3. Finally, check for updates and install your web browser using the following command:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install vivaldi-stable

Alternatively, use the SoftwareUpdater utility to upgrade from an older version.

(Optional): To remove the Vivaldi apt repository from your system[ソフトウェアとアップデート]Launch and[その他のソフトウェア]Go to the tab.
